The city of Portland is divided into five different regions with each region containing a number of neighborhoods. These regions include Northwest, Southwest, Northeast, Southeast, and North Portland. The general dividing line of the north and south quadrants is Burnside St. and the east and west quadrants are divided by the Willamette River. Each region is different in terms of lifestyle, culture, demographics, home values, space and commuting patterns. For example, Southwest attracts those who appreciate space and privacy while Southeast attracts those who want to be in the center of entertainment and culture.
